Research trip to Munich, Germany. With Oliver von Malm of Start Somewhere Germany inventors and makers of twist blocks. Twist blocks are manufactured in Nairobi Kenya, the blocks enable building interlocking wall without the use of mortar joints. The trip was about understanding the techniques of working with twist blocks, and circularity attributes of working with twist blocks which include design for disassemble, design for resue and design with reused.

However, there is little, or no information on these reusable building components/materials, which lowers the confidence by construction stakeholders in using them.

Revelation international in Paris was created, by Ateliers d’Art de France in 2013. The exhibition hosted artisans and craftsmen across the world. The Biennale was truly an exhibition forum for french and international creators. A forum for economic trade and encounters between designers, architects, decorators art dealers, and art collectors from across the world. Archrin architecture in attendance Christian Jonathan had the opportunity of meeting master artisans, creators, and foundation CEOs; LGK foundation, Meilleur Ouvrier de France creation fabrication, HERVE-EBENISTE, L' atelier Deambulons, and more.

HOMO FABER Venice 2022

The Homo Faber event was a celebration of arts and crafts. An extraordinary showcase of artisans’ works from Europe and Japan. comprising over 850 unique works by more than 400 designers from 43 countries. I (Archrin architecture Christian Jonathan) participated as a Young Ambassador during the event. The Young Ambassadors program brings together the most talented students from European schools of arts and design, to share with visitors their passion and enthusiasm about the 15 exhibition rooms. I participated in the exhibition room Pattern of craft/Tracing Venice curated by the Interior designer Sebastian Herkner/Zanellato Bortotto, De Castelli. Also had the opportunity to meet designs and art curators; Nelly Wandji, Hanaina Milheiro, Shalini Misra, Dora-May, and more.
